Deputy Prorector for AI
Morten Axel Pedersen
Morten Axel Pedersen took up his position as Deputy Prorector for AI at the University of Copenhagen on 1 September 2026.
Born in 1969, he holds a master's degree in Ethnography and Social Anthropology from Aarhus University in 1997 and a PhD in Social Anthropology from University of Cambridge in 2002.
Morten Axel Pedersen is responsible for a major, cross-university AI initiative running from 2026 to 2029. The initiative aims partly to improve the University's use of AI in research, education and administration and partly to support University of Copenhagen researchers' contributions to how society can deal with AI.
Reporting to the Rector, Morten Axel Pedersen is head of the group unit AI Office, He is appointed for a three-year term, running until September 2029, and is not part of the University's top day-to-day management.
